According to China News Agency: China Textile Import and Export Chamber of Commerce disclosed on the 9th that from January to April this year, the national textile and garment export was 95.84 billion US dollars, an increase of 8.6% year-on-year, a decrease of 2.6 percentage points from the export growth rate in the first quarter. Among them, textile exports were 48.82 billion US dollars, an increase of 11.1% year-on-year; apparel exports were 47.02 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 6.2%.
In April, China's textile and apparel exports reached US$23.59 billion, a month-on-month increase of 7.0% and a year-on-year increase of 1.6%, showing strong resilience. Among them, textile exports were 12.26 billion US dollars, an increase of 0.9% year-on-year; apparel exports were 11.33 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 2.4%, but the growth rate dropped by 8.5 percentage points from the previous month.
According to reports, since the second quarter, China's textile and garment industry has been affected by the epidemic in many places, and foreign trade has been under greater downward pressure. Only from the export performance in April, under the influence of the upgrading of epidemic prevention and control measures in Shanghai and surrounding areas, the obstruction of production and logistics, and the resumption of work and orders in Southeast Asian countries, although China's textile and apparel exports still maintained growth, the growth rate slowed down. In April, the growth rate of China's textile and apparel exports (up 1.6% in US dollars) fell 15.2 percentage points from March.
